What has been the best part of your life so far?
It’s always a good idea to reflect on what the best part of your life has been so far. 20 years ago I would have said being alive even though I have been in too many situations that could have gone another way and I wouldn’t do all the things I do today.
And at this moment in time, for me, it’s definitely being able to do the things I want to do. I love that I don’t have to answer to anyone but myself, which does put on a lot of pressure as I am responsible for making money and don’t get a regular paycheck. I have multiple projects that help me do that – and projects may not be the right word as they are either full-on businesses or side hustles as I have a mix of them.
I think my favorite part of my life is that I get to design my days in whatever which may make sense. I am fairly structured throughout the mornings but less so in the afternoons.
But I don’t think that I have just one best part. I’ll be celebrating 17 years with my guy this year and for as much as we struggled in many ways for the first 7 years, the last 10 have been really good. He’s always there, ready to catch me, ready to help me navigate my emotions and do things that may be too much for me. As I have a touch of the ’tism sometimes navigating this life and the things we must do is hard, and he’s there at the ready.
And maybe just maybe, the best part of my life is that I did not fall into the foster care statistics. That I indeed graduated high school and earned 2 college degrees but more than anything, I raised my kids – never a thread of having them removed from my care because of my parenting – only when people tried to hurt me. My boys are amazing humans and I think my favorite part is that they stand up for what they believe in – even if other people (including myself) don’t agree.
I don’t think there is a single best part as it’s all just a combination of experiences and events.
